The Principles
of Air Conditioning Heating
Air source heat pumps operate by taking some of the residual heat from a large volume of air and transferring it into a much small volume of air. By concentrating the heat, the air temperature is raised and made suitable for interior space heating.
Almost all modern air conditioning systems are able to work as heat pumps, in what is referred to as “reverse cycle heating” mode. This is a very efficient means of heating, so it is well worth specifying a unit that has a dual heat pump / air conditioning function. Such equipment can then be useful all year round – cooling in summer and providing inexpensive heat during the colder months.
